Sejarah Garut dan Kopi Preanger

Kopi yang dihasilkan di Garut memiliki beberapa keistimewaan mulai dari sejarah kopi yang di bawa oleh pemerintahan kolonial Belanda ke Indonesia Khususnya Garut sampai pada jenis Kopi nya itu sendiri.

Sejarah garut tidak bisa dilapskan dengan Kopi… dimana berawal dari pembubaran kabupaten Limbangan pada tahun 1811 oleh Daendles dengan alasan produksi kopi di daerah limbangan mengalami penurunan sampai pada titik Nol.

Dan Indonesia merupakan negara pertama yang memiliki perkebunan kopi di luar Arabia dan Ethiopia dan VOC memonopoli perdagangan kopi ini dari tahun 1725-1780.

Benih kopi yang ditanam di garut, pangalengan sampai daerah bandung selatan didatangkan oleh pihak kerajaan Belanda langsung dari daerah Amerika latin. Karena faktor kesuburan tanah dan ketinggian lahan yang sangat mendukung menjadikan jenis kopi ini menjadi jenis kopi unggulan yang terkenal yang dinamai jenis “Kopi java Preanger”, kopi inilah inilah yang membedakan dengan kopi di daerah Sumatra dan daerah lainnya di Indonesia.

Jenis kopi ini dulu yang menjadi Favorit di negara2 Eropa yang di bawa oleh VOC dan mejadi kopi dengan harga termahal.

Jadi keunggulan pertama dari Kopi Luwak garut adalah dari jenis kopi nya Kopi Arabika Java Preanger.
